The owner of a Winchester Low Wall .25-20 S.S. started to do the inletting himself on this semi-inletted wood. He got it pretty close to fully seated and then decided he was in over his head and asked me to finish it up.
I finished up the inletting of the action and did a little more work on fitting the butt plate. The wood was sanded and finished to a satin luster. The customer wanted a traditional looking point checkering pattern. A long panel was applied on each side of the grip and a wrap-around panel went on the forearm. Checkering was 22 lpi borderless. The wood was excellent American black walnut and it pleased the customer. My time came to 18 hours of work on this project.
