Stock Refinishing and Recheckering
This Browning Olympian grade stock had a hairline crack behind the tang, like so many stocks that were not properly inletted and bedded, and dings and scratches in the finish. The checkering and stippling were so full of grime that they felt smooth.
The original finish was stripped. The hairline crack was repaired and reinforced. The stock was refinished to a rich satin luster. The 26 lpi checkering was recut, even into the recesses of the border carving, where it had not been originally done, the stippled areas were restippled and the border carving was recut. The bench log for this project shows 23 hours.
